Portland Shed

Portland Shed is a non-profit volunteer organization providing resources to several charities for various construction projects including sleeping pods, tiny homes, furniture and handicap ramps.  Portland Shed provides a place where volunteers can gather and spend a few hours working on various projects.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact pdxshed@gmail.com.

Portland Shed will be working with Sleep In Heavenly Peace (shpbeds.org) to build beds for kids in Portland that are sleeping on the floor. If you would be interested in donating please visit our donor page at: http://weblink.donorperfect.com/or-portlandmetro

Partner highlight: WeShine

Portland Shed volunteers have been building sleeping pods for our friends at WeShine. Please see their exciting update below:

To our WeShine friends and partners:

We are proud to announce and share the release of our “Voices of WeShine” video!  [Voices of Weshine]

We now have a powerful visual story that we’re excited to share with our community. This video is a testament to the strengths of our Villagers’ resilience, and the cumulative work we have done since WeShine was founded three years ago.

But don’t just take our word for it – please take a moment to view the 3-minute video and discover how our collective work sustains Portland’s unsheltered adults on their path toward obtaining safe, affordable permanent housing.

We encourage you to share this video with others, as it’s a call to action to draw attention to and gain support for the ways in which we care for Portland’s underserved and marginalized houseless populations – LGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, women/those who identify as female, and disabled adults.

Thank you for continuing to support our work and uplift the importance of welcoming, empowering, and safe shelter alternatives! Together, WE SHINE!

With Appreciation,

Jan McManus, LMSW

Portland Shed benefits from The Oregonian’s Season of Sharing campaign

We are thrilled to announce Portland Shed has been selected as a recipient of the Oregonian’s Season of Sharing. Season of Sharing is The Oregonian/OregonLive’s annual holiday fundraising campaign. Proceeds go to Oregon social services agencies that assist individuals and families in need.

Many Portland Shed volunteers have been extremely generous with their time and talents, so we are honored to be recognized as “Oregonians making a difference!”

Table Talk

Thanks for the shout out from our friends at the Community Warehouse, who recently hosted their “Table Talk” show at a table built by the Portland Shed. At the time of this video, Portland Shed volunteers have built and delivered more than 65 kitchen, coffee and end tables to the Community Warehouse.

The Community Warehouse is a “friendly local furniture bank” that provides donated furniture and household items to neighbors seeking the comfort and dignity of a furnished home while overcoming adversity.
